As the fall season approaches, please review the burning ordinances. The Village of Wadsworth ordinance is similar to Lake County. It is important to call the fire station prior to burning so that we can alert the 911 dispatch center in case they receive calls from a passersby of an unknown fire. Please pay attention to the wind direction as not to cause a nuisance to your neighbors. As always, BE SAFE. Have a means of extinguishment before conducting an open burn.
Burning of leaves and other landscape waste is permitted in conformity with this chapter and except as may be prohibited from time to time by the village of Wadsworth. (Ord. 2000-561, 11-7-2000)
Burning of leaves or other landscape waste is prohibited within one thousand feet (1,000′) of any school when school is in session or pupils are present. (Ord. 2000-561, 11-7-2000)
