Special Features: Due to the nature of the rural environment of Newport Township, grass fires were prevalent, most of the time finding access to these fires was quite a task and with this in mind a new 1955 Willys Jeep brush truck was purchased. The Willys truck was bought from Harris Motors in Winthrop Harbor and converted to a fire truck by the Grayslake Fire Apparatus Company. The truck is retired from service now but is still used for parades.

Special Features: Hydraulic driven air compressor with 60 and 90 lbs jack hammer, air spade and air knife. Gasoline and air operated cut off saws, concrete chain saws. Pro-Tech and Air Shore trench rescue air shores, high and medium pressure air bags, Petro-gen torch set, 20Kw hydraulic generator, large quantity of wood cribbing, and a large selection of air and hand operated hand tools.

Special Features: Pumper/Tender 1462 is currently out-of-service due to a failure of the vehicle's frame that cannot be cost effectively repaired.

Special Features: Engine 1415 was purchased at a very reasonable price from the Libertyville Fire Department in the fall of 2018 to address an urgent void created when the frame on 1462 failed. Engine 1415 carries 5000' of 5" hose, Hurst vehicle extrication tools, generator, tools and equipment. 1415 carries advanced life support medical equipment including heart monitor/defibrillator, oxygen and emergency medications.

Special Features: Squad 1458 currently serves as a reserve engine. It has frame and significant body corrosion issues. It carries 1000' of 5" hose, 30 gallons of Class "A" foam, 30 gallons of Class "B" foam, 10 KW generator, 6000 watt telescoping light tower, vehicle extrication tools, firefighting tools and equipment.

Special Features: This tender carries two 3,000 gallon portable tanks that are set on the ground to facilitate rapid dumping of tender tank water to permit the tender to leave the scene quicker to refill with more water. Tenders are critical in areas that lack fire hydrants. 97% of Newport's district lacks fire hydrants.

Special Features: Brush Truck 1475 serves the Fire District in various capacities. Its primary mission is fighting grass and brush fires, primarily in areas that are off-road. The pump skid carries 600' of 1" forestry fire hose and wildland firefighting equipment. This unit is also equipped with a snow plow for maintaining stations as well as providing access to incidents during severe winter storms. Brush Truck 1475 is also the primary tow vehicle for Fire District trailers.

Special Features: Engine 1411 was purchased utilizing a loan program through the Illinois Office of the State Fire Marshal. 1411 carries 1000' of 5" supply hose, 40 gallons class "A" foam, generator, Holmatro extrication equipment, and a variety of hand tools. This unit is also Advanced Life Support, equipped to respond to medical emergencies with heart monitor/defibrillator, oxygen, and emergency medications.

Special Features: Unit 1452 was purchased to address several challenging attributes of the Fire District. Miles of horse and walking trails on Forest Preserve property require the occasional response for an ill or injured person. The more than 7 square miles of Forest Preserves also create the need for off road firefighting capability. 1452 is equipped with a small water tank, pump, forestry hose and hand tools for wildland firefighting. The unique track drive system works well in both mud and snow, allowing the unit to access areas typical ATVs can't reach.

Special Features: Unit 1453 was donated to provide the Fire District with response capabilities in winter months and during heavy snow events. Miles of horse and skiing trails on Forest Preserve property require the occasional response for an ill or injured person. The unit has also been used for locating stranded motorists during blizzard events.
